PONT: ‘Beyond Projects’ | Sustainable Implementation of Design
What does it take to break down barriers to design work and make a sustainable impact on social issues?
7 Feb 2025 - 13:00 - 17:00
Why are many public design practices limited to temporary interventions? How do you avoid impairing the impact of design (solutions) through a lack of proper implementation or transfer and aligned shared responsibility?
In this PONT master class, Shay Raviv explores the barriers to sustainable implementation of design outcomes. This can be about the implementation of design interventions, but is often also about the implementation of design thinking. Using her research publication “Beyond Projects” as a supporting framework, participants are challenged to discover solution approaches in their own context. The interactive exercises, hands-on nature, and stories and dialogues help to take a design approach beyond a “project term.”
Guest speakers Jan Belon of Afedling Buitengewone Zaken and Tamas Erkelens of Startklein share their unique perspectives from both the creator and civil service sides.
This master class is relevant to designers and professionals in and for the public sector who have experience deploying the design approach in the public context and want to learn to better embed its value for the long term.
