The Night Club Academy: workshops social design & encounters in the neighbourhood
The Night Club was part of the Embassy of Safety during Dutch Design Week 2021. This social design approach in various Dutch neighbourhoods uses the night as a moment and inspiration to create intimate encounters between residents and professionals. On 1 April, a new initiative will start: The Night Club Academy. There, residents, neighbourhood policemen, civil servants and other professionals work together on candid encounters in the neighbourhood.

On 1 April, social designers, residents and neighbourhood professionals will come together to learn from each other and make plans: how do you work together to create pleasant, safe and familiar neighbourhoods? What tools does social design offer, and what inspiration does the night provide? There is room to get to know each other and to meet surprising (night) experts. At the end of the day, there will be informal drinks and The Night Club Academy will be further presented.

About The Night Club Academy
At The Night Club Academy, residents and professionals from different districts in the Netherlands and Flanders learn from each other by doing and making things together. We research, look at things differently and try them out in practice. The diverse composition of residents and professionals is special: from an active resident to a neighbourhood director, from the neighbourhood agent to a young person. We are testing the academy on 1 April. A longer programme will start later this spring.
Initiators of The Night Club are social designers Jaap Warmenhoven (Matching Futures) and Marjolein Vermeulen (MV Design).
Partners are the Municipality of Rotterdam and the Stimulation Fund Creative Industry.
