Programme

In this Conference, we zoom in on the balance between utopia and dystopia. There has been a lot of focus recently on polarisation, mental health of young people and the growing influence of big tech. This can make us feel like it is happening to all of us, or even that we are too late. Under the slogan ‘Escape the algorithm’, we are looking for the action perspective.

On the other hand, the digital futures have a lot to offer us: so-called ‘superpowers’ are becoming available to us. In a nutshell, we move from the latest developments to what awaits us in the long term. In this way, the digital futures paint a picture of hope and new possibilities that offer opportunities for all who delve into them.

Every ‘superpower’ also has a downside, through negative impact on the other than for whom the superpower was developed, even if it was with the best of intentions. After a presentation by Koert van Mensvoort, among others, we will delve into the expo by designers; Julia Janssen, Leonore Snoek, Mayra Kapteijn and Bas Sala followed by a panel discussion with Martijn de Waal, Marcel Thaens and Mieke van Heesewijk, to enhance this insight.

After this meeting, we do not yet know how to shape digital transformation, but we will have the ingredients for the next question in our quest for digital futures.
