Embassy of Water conference

The Embassy of Water has been initiating design projects around regenerative housing construction for several years. In these, we make the connection with practice: this year, we are commissioning a technical and financial study around circular water concepts for a specific new-build project in Eindhoven. In parallel, a design research project is running. Here, we zoom in on opportunities and obstacles and the possibly changing roles within the water chain.

To truly achieve a regenerative approach, we need a different attitude towards water. An inner water transition is needed. And that starts with a new understanding of water itself. We need to get to know water anew. Our annual design brief has therefore been submitted to our ‘Voice of Water’: biomimicry architect Lydia Fraaije. Her project focuses on how we can design a reciprocal relationship with water in our living environment.

During the Embassy of Water conference on Tuesday 22 October, part of Dutch Design Week’s Mission Days, we will take you through our vision and give a glimpse of our projects. Using film clips of special water films released this year, we will change your perspective on water. Each excerpt will trigger a dialogue with various speakers and audience members.

We ask for your input! We invite a mix of fifty designers, architects, water professionals, policymakers and construction parties. Let’s make regenerative housing one common story, in which water is the basis.
