The Netherlands faces major spatial challenges, such as housing, water, agriculture, mobility, but also inclusiveness and health. Tasks that call for major changes. What will the Netherlands look like in the future? And more importantly: how do we make that attractive future picture a reality?

Within the learning community of Maakruimte voor Mooi NL, we want to unravel how to make space for design power within complex spatial tasks. We do this in three core teams, each with its own theme: sustainable agriculture & nature, energy & circular economy, liveable cities & regions. The core teams consist of participants from local authorities, the design field, science and the policy world, all drivers of change from their own position. Together, they join forces to arrive at an integrated approach to spatial tasks from different perspectives. The Maakruimte voor Mooi NL learning community is committed to promoting a better understanding of the use of imagination and creativity in complex spatial issues.

Designing Society exposition

Maakruimte voor Mooi NL is part of the ‘Designing Society’ exposition at Dutch Design Week. Dutch Design Foundation invites visitors to discover new perspectives on possible futures during this over 600m2 exposition. Through various themes, you will discover how we as a society can connect the power of design to the complex challenges of today and tomorrow.
