PONT session: Navigating the In-between Space

Topic:

What does the ideal public space for deliberation look like? During Dutch Design Week 2024, Daniëlle Arets, lecturer in design and journalism, takes you on a quest for the physical, mental and symbolic space we need to cleverly balance between space and rules. With insights from books by David Hamers (Planbureau voor de Leefomgeving), Marjan Slob (Denker des Vaderlands), Danae Theodoridou (theatre maker), Byung-Chul Han (philosopher and writer).

What to expect:

A mix of knowledge presentations, book club insights, performance and discussion. With on stage alongside Daniëlle Arets, lecturers Arthur Kok (Transforming the Economy), Tessa Cramer (Designing the Future) and Falk Hubner (Artistic Connective Practices). And in the equally important hall, participants of the past book club and others interested in the intersection of politics, design research and public debate.

Following:

At 12:30 PM we will conclude with an included lunch. Participants of this subsession will also receive an entrance ticket to Dutch Design Week. A group of 30 participants can also join the PONT curated Dutch Design Week tour from 13:30 PM -15:30 PM. A tour guide will take the group past exhibits at Dutch Design Week focusing on design for social issues and collaboration between designers and the government. The tour does not require a DDW ticket and headsets will be used during the tours.
