Social Gym boot camp

The Social Gym combines a serious work-out with a social component: people doing sports go on boot camp together with elderly people in wheelchairs or with walkers. Wheelchairs are used as fitness apparatus. The exercises are physically challenging for the sportspeople. They are encouraged and supported by the elderly who are simultaneously doing light exercises according to their ability. The Social Gym was developed by social designers Sjaak Langenberg and Rosé de Beer, and has grown into a national platform.
