In search of a new language for food and agriculture
What if we could learn to talk about food and agriculture in a way that connects us all? During Dutch Design Week, Food Hub invites the public to join in the search for a new language for food and agriculture. We all share a love for good, honest food, but the challenges within our food system demand change. Through conversations and visual interactions, we aim to develop a language that resonates with as many people as possible. This language could form the foundation for a future-oriented food system that is fair to the planet, farmers, and society.
During Dutch Design Week, we invite visitors to explore a new language for food and agriculture. We are at a crucial moment: climate change, environmental pressures, and the challenges facing farmers make it clear that our food system must change. Yet, we all share a love for good food, pride in our agricultural traditions, and the desire to produce healthy, fair, and sustainable food.
Our project is about finding a common language that as many people as possible can relate to. We aim to move beyond polarization and division, and engage in conversations about how we can build a food system that honors the planet, farmers, and society.
Through interactions and discussions during the event, we will bring together diverse perspectives—from farmers and researchers to consumers and policymakers. We are seeking words, images, and ideas that embrace different visions, while also fostering unity.
This new language can help us craft a forward-looking narrative in which everyone takes responsibility for fair and sustainable food. Which words resonate with you?
