The Exploded View – Beyond Building
‘Experience your circular living environment of the future’ with this message, Biobased Creations presents The Exploded View Beyond Building together with more than 100 pioneers from the world of circular and biobased building.
Live experience
It is an iconic exhibition in the form of a house that consists entirely of bio-based materials, circular construction methods and stories about the changing value chain of which it is part. This life-size biobased house stimulates all your senses and shows you the circular future.
There are over 100 natural building materials in The Exploded View Beyond Building. “We show the endless, potential material flows that are in stock and that can be used in the construction world. For example, materials from food, seaweed, (sewage) water, soil, funghi or even our own living environment. Materials of today, tomorrow and the day after tomorrow.” says designer Pascal Leboucq of Biobased Creations. “You walk through the house and you can see, feel and smell all the materials. Each room has its own story.” Are you interested in the specific stories behind the themes and the materials that you see in the house? During the DDW, storytellers will be present to introduce you into the new world of circular building . They will answer all your questions.
Online deepening
Would you rather discover the house yourself? That’s no problem either. All rooms and materials have a QR code. Just scan and you’ll have all the background information at hand. This way you can view everything at your leisure or even search for it at home. The biobased house can also be visited digitally. You can take a complete tour of the house online. “In this way, our biobased house is accessible to everyone,” says Lucas De Man, director of Biobased Creations.
Living Lab
The Exploded View Beyond Building is the result of collaboration and research by builders, producers, farmers, scientists, designers, governments, knowledge institutes, storytellers and artists who are united in The Embassy of Circular & Biobased Building. Together they work on new perspectives for sustainable (circular and biobased) building and for living; a circular living environment. They are researching the possibilities of new biobased materials with a high design quality and circular construction methods such as detachability and modularity. They also look at how more worlds, than just the building world, are influenced if they are designed and built differently. Pascal Leboucq: “Because building your house biobased means building a sustainable living environment.”
The purpose of the exhibition is to make designers, builders and residents think about the future. What will your house look like in the future? And what do you think is really important when it comes to living? Lucas De Man: “The house is cool to see. It gives hope, energy and inspiration for the future. We show that we can build circularly and biobased on a large scale.”
